Lok Ming Fung
Ceramics
Lok Ming Fung is a ceramic designer maker who graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2007. During her years studying for her Ceramic degree, she has always been fascinated and intrigued by texture, the way a glaze can accentuate the ceramic surface: highlighting details and surface relief achieved with techniques such as intaglio, sprigging and piercing.
Loks mainly uses the process of slip casting to make her pieces and finishing them by applying surface decoration by hand before glazing them in rich colours showing off the surface. Her pieces tend to have bursts of details that aim to capture the attention of individuals.
A British born Chinese, she is constantly discovering and inspired by both cultures she grew up with. She also finds inspiration from Mother Nature and loves trawling through charity shops finding nostalgic items!
Loks is a network member of Craft Central and since graduating she has showcased and sold work at Tent, RBSA, Pulse and recently at Maison et Objet, Paris.
