Louise Dawson

Louise Dawson is a recent Textiles graduate based at Cuckoo Farm Studios in Colchester, Essex. Her work takes influence from the 1940s philosophies of “Make Do and Mend,” reinvented with a contemporary twist. Louise’s work is intended to challenge the viewer’s preconceptions about recycling and reflect it as a stylish, contemporary way to create something new and individual. With a focus on embellishment, knitting and felting, her main aspirations are to create individual, hand crafted textiles, that are treasured, rather than being discarded when fashion persuades them to buy into the latest trend
